At Newborn Care International, our mission is to promote evidence-based knowledge and clinical competencies as the certifying body of newborn care professionals.

Founded in January of 2017, NCI is dedicated to improving the foundation of newborn care comprehension and understanding by providing newborn care professionals the opportunity to earn the ICNCS designation. NCI is working with The Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) to establish accreditation for the certification of the International Certified Newborn Care Specialist (ICNCS) program, based on the ISO/IEC 17024 Standard. ICE is well-recognized within the industry as enforcing the highest standards in personnel certification accreditation which will provide credibility and oversight to the instructional program.

NCI develops and administers the ICNCS examination to assess knowledge and skills that underlie competent practice in newborn care education. The development, administration and scoring of the exam promotes competency in newborn care and knowledge and thereby fulfills the mission of NCI.

NCI provides a service to the public by identifying individuals who demonstrate the knowledge  required for competent care of newborns. By extension, NCI seeks to promote, protect and support newborn care for individuals and society at large.
